Accomplishments
- IWF partnered with State Representative Sid Mathias (R-Buffalo Grove) in passing HB 2927, the Job Creation Bill, which updates the Illinois Emergency Employment Development program. The bill provides a temporary, partial wage subsidy to private sector employers, incentivizing the creation of new jobs for long term unemployed job seekers. While funding for the program is subject to appropriations, it is linked to the 21st Century Workforce Development Fund. Click here to view the full legislation.
- IWF led efforts to pass HB 852, the 21st Century Workforce Development Act, which creates the 21st Century Workforce Development Fund. This is the first step towards a sustainable funding source for education, skills training, and other job training services that will build the 21st Century workforce that employers need to grow and Illinois needs to have a strong economy.
